For immediate release: December 3, 2024

Jonesville, VA: Lee County Commonwealth’s Attorney H. Fuller Cridlin announced Tuesday, December 3, 2024, that Joey Honeycutt, of Ewing, was sentenced by the Lee County Circuit Court to serve twenty years in the Virginia Penitentiary on multiple counts related to the distribution of methamphetamine. Following this term of active incarceration, the defendant will be on supervised probation indefinitely.
“In this prosecution, we were able to prove that the defendant distributed, or possessed with the intent to distribute, approximately 581 grams of methamphetamine in Lee County between January 11, 2024, and April 16, 2024. The 20-year sentence to serve in this case reflects not only the serious harm caused by the distribution of methamphetamine to our community, but also the large quantity involved, which significantly amplifies the threat to public safety.”
Cridlin praised the collaboration and dedication of the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation: “This was a complex case that required significant coordination between the Southwest Virginia Drug Task Force, the Virginia State Police, and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. I want to especially recognize Special Agents Chris Dillman and Kelly Harvel, and Investigators Todd Jones, Chris Lewis, and J.T. Coleman for the outstanding work and effective communication with my office throughout what was a lengthy and complex prosecution.
“I also want to recognize Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Don Williams for his exceptional efforts in this case, which were critical to achieving this conviction and sentence,” Cridlin concluded.
