Gathering in the Gap Instrument / Band Competitions

Musicians, this is your reminder – don’t miss your chance to compete! The Instrument & Band Competitions at the Gathering in the Gap Music Festival are right around the corner, and we want to see YOU on stage!
Whether you pick a mean banjo, fiddle, mandolin, or guitar – or you’ve got a band ready to bring the house down – this is your time to shine. 
What’s up for grabs?• Up to $100 for individual winners
• $500 for the winning band
• Certificates for all participants under 18
Competition Details:• Individual divisions: 17 & under / 18 & up
• Band competition: minimum 3 members, at least 2 instrument types
• Instrument competitions begin at 12:00 PM (on-site registration)
• Entry fees: $10 first instrument, $5 second, $15 bands
When & Where:Saturday, May 23, 2026
Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park, Big Stone Gap
Festival kicks off at 11:00 AM
Main Stage Tickets:$18 through May 22 | $20 day of event
Free for children 12 & under with a paid adult
