A tragic incident occurred on the night of January 10th in the Stone Creek Community of Lee County, Virginia, when a malfunctioning kerosene heater caused a devastating fire that destroyed a family home. The blaze resulted in the severe injury of two individuals, Chris Gibson and Isaac Johnson, who were both transported to a burn unit in North Carolina. Isaac, who will be spending his 22nd birthday in the hospital, suffered severe burns to his face, arms, legs, and back and required intubation due to smoke inhalation.
Chris was able to rescue them by breaking a window, but he also sustained injuries to his arms, requiring stitches. Thankfully, the wife and mother was not at home during the fire.
The community is rallying to support the family, and donations are being accepted at Home Appliance and O’Reilly Auto Parts in Pennington Gap. The family is in urgent need of help during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. A GoFundMe link is below.
