As our modern-day fades, journey through the history of southwest Virginia on your first day hike. This one-mile, moderate, ranger led program will feature a variety of stops allowing park guests to experience the fabled buffalo trace, the majesty of a Native American town, the refuge of a frontier community, and the closing of America’s first frontier.
The guided hike will depart from the Visitor’s Center at 11:00 a.m.
Every year on Jan. 1, Virginia State Parks celebrates First Day Hikes. This nationwide initiative invites people to ring in the new year by connecting with nature and making lasting memories at a state park.
