JONESVILLE MAN SENTENCED TO SERVE LIFE SENTENCE
Jonesville, VA: Lee County Commonwealth’s Attorney H. Fuller Cridlin announced that Michael Camden, of Jonesville, has been sentenced to a life sentence following his conviction for rape in Lee County Circuit Court.
On December 22, 2025, Camden was convicted of one count of rape after prosecution by Commonwealth’s Attorney H. Fuller Cridlin and Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Sarah H. Wynn. On February 23, 2026, the Court imposed a life sentence. Cridlin noted that under Virginia law the conviction carried a mandatory minimum life sentence, leaving the Court with no discretion in the sentence imposed.
Cridlin declined to provide specific details about the case, stressing the importance of protecting the privacy of victims in such sensitive matters. “Our office remains committed to standing with victims and ensuring those who commit violent sexual offenses are held fully accountable,” stated Cridlin.
Cridlin praised the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police for their thorough and professional investigation. He specifically recognized Lt. Todd Jones of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Special Agent Travis Howard of the Virginia State Police, Lt. Mason Cook of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and Sgt. James Adair, formerly of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, for their work in the case. Cridlin noted that their diligence and attention to detail were critical in securing the conviction and sentence imposed today.
