The Wise County School Board held their monthly meeting this week with two unexpected vacancies on the board
John Schoolcraft, Big Stone Gap member annouced his resignation due to his post-retirement endeavor as a management consultant taking a lot of his time and not devoting his time to the school board. He also has family that would like to have employment with the school division and can not be done while he is on the board.
With the late passing of Pound member Wayne Leftwich, died on October 28, and James Bryant died on October 10. A large portion of the meeting was devoted as a tribute to these influencial men in the Wise County School System.
The deadline for the vacancies and a public hearing is December 2 at 6:00 pm for Leftwich and Schoolcraft districts.
