Wise County’s Project Lifesaver

Wise County's Project Lifesaver is geared towards locating people that tend to wander off due to Alzheimer's, Dementia or Special Needs. Lt. Teresa Meade with the Wise County Sheriff's Department stated that, "We've had a a couple of finds through the years, they were elderly individuals and I feel like if they had not been found they would have passed away." Meade added that residents of Wise County can get their first device free but all donations are greatly appreciated. This is effective because you attach a bracelet type tracker to the individuals wrist or ankle. After that if your loved one wanders off or becomes lost, you can contact the local law enforcement, and using advanced radio technology officials can immediately begin a search. Interested agencies may also sign up to participate in Project Lifesaver.
