Emergency crews took a woman to the hospital by med flight on Saturday afternoon after a crash with a backhoe hauling dirt.
The Wise County Sheriff's Office told News 5 the crash happened at about 1:30 p.m. in the westbound lane of Highway 58 near Tacoma Mountain Road. Deputies say the woman's injuries are serious.
About fifteen minutes later officials say another crash happened 200 yards away from the first one in the eastbound lane of Highway 58. Traffic was stopped because of the first crash and deputies say a driver was distracted and rear-ended another car.
The car that was hit spun out and the first car hit a second vehicle. One driver went to the hospital.
Both east and westbound lanes of Highway 58 were closed for about an hour.
