In Wise County, the School Board will welcome new member Jess Roy Powers, who won his election, last week. The board has voted to close the county’s three smallest schools at the end of this school year, and in light of that move, there are a number of consolidation issues to discuss. They will get a progress report on the budget proposal from the Schools’ Finance Director, discuss a slight change to the county’s layoff policy for teachers, health insurance and board member education requirements.
