Wise County Grand Jury Indictments 01

A Wise County Grand Jury recently indicted five people on charges of alleged violence. Among those indicted were;
Dylan Shane Holbrook, age 21 of Pennington Gap is facing one count of Assault and Battering a Police Officer which is punishable by up to five years in prison. The complaint stated that an officer responded to the Big Stone Gap Food City in response to an alleged assault and found Holbrook unsteady on his feet and with slurred speech next to his vehicle. Holbrook ran from the officer and jumped into the river and resisted arrest.
Tyler Zachary Hyatt age 20 of Coeburn for two counts of Aggravated Malicious Bodily Injury, punishable by up to life in prison for each count, one count of Malicious Bodily Injury that’s punishable by up to 20 years in prison, One count of Assault and Battery Against a Family or Household Member, punishable by up to one year in jail, and a fine of up to $2,500. One count of Abduction, punishable by up to ten years in prison, once count of Possession of a Schedule I or II Drug that’s punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Hyatt allegedly admitted to law enforcement that he attacked a household member and that while intoxicated on drugs he threw the alleged victim on a bed, struck the victim and then threw the victim against walls and obstacles. Additionally it’s alleged that he grabbed the person’s hair and slammed their head on the floor. The alleged victim suffered a brain bleed, was placed on a ventilator to assist with breathing and continues to experience vision and hearing issues. The attacks spanned a few days.
Jeremiah T Wells, age 37 of Big Stone Gap, faces one count of Malicious Wounding, which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison. Wells allegedly struck a household member in the face with a plastic ice tray causing cuts and bleeding.
Floyd Franklin Padgett, age 43 of Wise faces one count of Malicious Wounding, one count of Preventing Someone from Contacting Law Enforcement, punishable by up to one year in jail and a $2,500 fine.
