Wise County Deputies Receive Active Shooter Training

Wise County Sheriff's Deputies received active shooter training this week at the old J.J. Kelly High School in Wise. The class was sponsored by Southwest Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy and opened to all law enforcement officers across the region.
All Wise County Deputies, under the command of Sheriff Oakes, receive this training during the basic law enforcement academy, required in-service, and during in-house department training. Sheriff Oakes states, "This training is a must for any law enforcement officer in the times we currently live in. My Deputies have to be prepared to handle any event."
