Wise County Crash Fatality

According to Virginia State Police, a recent two vehicle crash claimed the life of one individual while sparing two others, one with severe injuries had to be air lifted to Bristol Regional Medical Center.
As a result of a head on collision between a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle, Perry Owens age 22, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident, Amanda Pearson age 20 of Big Stone Gap was airlifted due to her injuries and Travis Toliver the tractor trailer driver, age 30 of Jackson Ohio was taken to Johnson City Medical Center for additional treatment of his injuries.
At this time the accident is still under investigation by the state police but Toliver has been charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs. Sentencing for people who are found guilty of driving whilst under the influence of drugs would be sentenced with reference to the level of impairment found in the driver.
An individual who is operating a motor vehicle under the influence of other drugs, including over-the-counter drugs, prescription drugs, and even illicit drugs, can be charged with this offense.
