Warrants Issued for Correl “Iraq” Baker

The Wise County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an individual being stabbed in the East Stone Gap area of nearby Wise County. Upon arrival Wise County deputies discovered a male with multiple injuries sustained from a physical assault by a weapon. Because of the seriousness of the victim’s injuries, the victim was immediately transported to Lonesome Pine Hospital for medical treatment.
At this time, law enforcement officials have obtained warrants on Correl “Iraq” Baker age 30, of Knoxville, Tennessee for Malicious Wounding and Stabbing in the Commission of a Felony.
Under Virginia Law § 18.2-51, malicious wounding is a serious form of assault and is considered a Class 3 Felony criminal offense punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $100,000 fine. Virginia law on malicious wounding can be summarized as: any person who maliciously shoots, stabs, cuts, or wounds any person, or, by any means causes him bodily injury with the intent to maim, disfigure, disable, or kill, then he can be found guilty of a felony.
