Wanted Pennington Gap man lands in jail after a trip to VAMC emergency room

A Pennington man has ended up in jail after a visit to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center’s emergency room where police identified him as a fugitive from justice.
Jeffery Wayne Alsup, 44, Pennington Gap, Virginia, was wanted in Lee County, Virginia, on a violation of probation on an original charge of unlawful wounding. Johnson City police said he also had a warrant for assault and battery.
About 11:30 a.m. Monday, police arrested him at the VAMC emergency room, charging him as a fugitive from justice. He was held in the Washington County Detention Center without bond pending a Sessions Court appearance set for Tuesday.
