Virginia’s Left Lane Law

Many thousands of drivers in Virginia have been fined as a result of a new law recently implemented with set penalties for driving too slowly in the left lane of a highway.
According to the latest data compiled from public records requests for citations issued, it found that from July 1st, 2017 thru April 3, 2018 over 16,000 people have been ticketed under various portions of the new law.
Establishing a $100 fine for motorists driving too slowly in the left lane, failing to keep to the right unless passing and other related violations. Sponsored by Delegate Israel O'Quinn who claimed that driving too slowly in the left lane not only endangers law enforcement but it often creates road rage.
