Virginia Wages Increase

The average wage for a Virginia worker increased to more than $17 an hour last year, 11 percent above the national average and the 18th highest in the country. However, according to the Commonwealth Institute for Fiscal Analysis, the top 10 percent of wage earners in the commonwealth make nearly 6 times more than those in the bottom 10 percent. Virginia’s wage gap is the second worst in the country.
