UVA Wise Delays Fall Semester

Officials from UVA Wise announced that they plan to delay the beginning of the 2020 Fall Semester by two weeks and will mail at-home COVID19 test kits to students, prior to their arrival on campus. These at-home tests will be mailed to UVA students and then sent to the lab that works with the University of Virginia’s College at Wise.
Fall classes are now slated to begin next Wednesday on August 26, 2020, rather than the original August 12th date. Residential students that haven’t returned to Wise already, will instead wait until today, as part of their “staggered” and prescheduled arrival into campus housing. Convocation will be held on Tuesday, August 25th, 2020.
According to Chancellor, Donna P. Henry who stated, “We have students from across the commonwealth, and from other states who will arrive soon. We feel that increasing the amount of testing will help us know more about what we are dealing with and will help us better manage the situation.”
Any students that may test positive but are not yet on campus, will be asked to remain at home until ten days after initial diagnosis or three days after they are symptom free, without medications, or whichever method is longer.
