Eddie Marcy, a WWII Tuskegee Airman with roots in Big Stone Gap, passed away last Saturday. Marcy's parents, Arthur and Callie Marcy, moved to Big Stone so his dad could become a coal miner. Eddie later became a miner himself, working in Derby, VA before being drafted into WWII and eventually ending up in the 305th Bombardment Wing as a fueler. Marcy was 96.
