Town of Jonesville Public Hearing November 7th

The Town of Jonesville will hold a public hearing on Tuesday evening November 7th at 5:30 p.m. in the American Legion Building located in the Cumberland Bowl Park in Jonesville concerning changes to town ordinances chapter 7 Section 7.8 and 7.9.
Section 7.8 concerns brush and weeds and states all persons, firms or corporations shall keep their premises (house or building on lot) whether owned, leased, occupied or in their charge, clear of weeds, brush and unsightly growth (not to exceed one foot in height). Any field that is cut for hay currently will be exempt. Wild animal habitats will also be exempt. If they are not cleared away within a period of ten days from said notice then said persons, firms or corporations shall be subject to a fine of fifty dollars for the first offense, one hundred dollars for second offense.
After the expiration of said ten days the Town Mayor may cause such weeds, brush and unsightly growth to be cut and removed, where necessary, and the cost thereof shall be charged at fifty dollars an hour and be collected from said owner of premises, or said person, firm or corporation or person leasing, occupying or having said premises in their charge as other taxes or levies are or may be collected.
Section 7.9 concerns the burning of leaves and brush inside the town limits and is prohibited at all times other than in a 10×10 area or smaller from 4 p.m. until midnight. The fine for the first offense is one hundred dollars and the second offense is two hundred and fifty dollars.
