A Sullivan County mother has made it her mission to help teenagers who need it this Christmas. Teen Angels will help provide gifts to teens.
It was started when Kimberly Lawson discovered there was nothing like the Angel Tree for kids over 12-years-old. She's trying to serve nearly 200 teens from all around the Tri-Cities. People are asked to fill a tote with toiletries, the sort of things important to teens we might take for granted. She also asks sponsors to include a gift card from the teen's favorite store for at least $20. Lawson said she doesn't want kids of any age to miss out on the holiday.
"They're still kids, they still deserve to have a Christmas, too, and I feel sometimes what is the hardest years of their life they're kind of being thrown to the side and they're not having the opportunity that the younger ones are getting to have," Lawson said. "I just hate to see them tossed to the side."
Angels can be sponsored by visiting teen angel website at http://www.teenangeltree.org, Lawson will be at the Walmart in Kingsport Saturday November 21, 2015 between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
