SWVA Health Districts in Phase 1B Vaccinations

Currently all three health district in the southwest Virginia region, along with area community partners have begun administering the COVID19 vaccines to people between the ages of sixteen to sixty-four years old, that have existing underlying medical conditions. According to officials, frontline workers and individuals aged sixty-five and older remain their first priority but they’ve been able to determine that there appears to be ‘sufficient’ quantities of the vaccine to add this additional percentage of the population the the targeted population. According to the Virginia Department of Health statisticians, there have been ten new COVID19 deaths, and thirty new COVID19 cases diagnosed in the Southwest Virginia region. Of those reported in these new figures, Lee and Wise Counties each had one new death attributed to the Corona Virus. Wise County had the highest increase in newly identified cases with sixteen new cases. Sullivan County tops the chart with the highest COVID19 case count of seventy.
