Stinkbug Control

The cooler Fall weather has triggered insects to invade homes in our region recently, particularly stinkbugs. The Lee County Extension Office has offered advice on how to prevent and rid your home of these pests. Make sure to seal up cracks around windows and doors unless the bugs are already inside in which case they will be trapped. Once inside homeowners should use a vacuum or store or homemade traps. Virginia Tech researchers say a simple trap consists of a roasting pan filled with water and dish soap with a light over the pan to attract the bugs in a dark room. A study of this method indicates this homemade traps eliminates 14 times more stink bugs.
