SSI Recipients and Stimulus Checks

In today’s local news, the Social Security Administration has recently announced that some SSI recipients curious about their share of the CARES Act Stimulus funds, will indeed receive their checks directly from the U.S. Treasury Department no later than mid-May. This also applies to Social Security Disability Insurance Beneficiaries, Retirement and Survivors.
SSI recipients with no qualifying child will receive their $1,200 payment automatically. Those with qualifying children are encouraged to not wait but to contact the IRS at their website at
Visit the non-filers and Enter Your Payment Info section to provide your personal information and that will help you to receive the extra $500 per qualifying child. The Social Security Administration cautions that if you fail to do so, you may have to wait until a much later date to get your child’s qualifying payment.
