Southwest VA going to American Idol

A Lee County resident and Wise County resident is representing Southwest Virginia in American Idol.

Taylor Ray Holbrook of Pennington Gap got his golden ticket at his audition in Brooklyn, New York and is currently in Nashville writing songs.

Holbrook preformed "What are You Listening To" by Chris Stapleton and the judges to Hollywood.

Holbrook is currently working on a song with Lee County influence. The song is called "It's called coal town, and it's one of the ones I'm most proud of."

Wise County resident, Trevor Hager, of Wise auditioned in Nashville and preformed  "Counting Stars" by OneRepublic.

Hager has spent time performing all over the world, including touring with former American Idol finalist Phil Stacey.
