Smoke Testing Locally

According to the latest Press Release from the Wastewater Superintendent, Martin Taylor:
The Lee County Public Service Authority will be performing Smoke Testing in our area from January 5, 2021 to January 22, 2021, between the hours of 9am-4pm daily.
In addition to this public service announcement, notices will also be placed on the doors of the Lee County Public Service Authority customers who will be affected by this process. These door hangers will explain the procedure that the customer will need to take if they smoke inside or around their house.
Periodic smoke testing is a simple process used in the utility industry that consists of blowing smoke mixed with large volumes of air into the sanitary sewer line, usually introduced through the manhole. The smoke then travels the path of least resistance and shows up at site that allow surface water airflow. This test helps to determine if there are leaks and or cracks in underground wastewater lines.
They appreciate everyone’s cooperation and add that if you have any questions concerning this process, please contact the Public Service Authority office at 276-346-7775 during normal operating hours of Monday thru Friday from 8am until 4:30pm.
