Small Business Recovery Grant Deadline December 11, 2020

Local small business owners are reminded of the fast approaching deadline for the Small Business Recovery Assistance Grant currently being offered by the LENOWISCO Planning District by this Friday, December 11, 2020. These funds are available to area businesses in the City of Norton as well as Lee, Scott and Wise counties.
Qualifying businesses are encouraged to apply for these one time grants in amounts of up to $15,000 intended to help with the financial impacts experienced by the COVID19 Pandemic. Up to now area businesses in Lee County have been the recipients of more than $400,000 but there remains just under $100,000 in available funds allocated to Lee County small businesses from the Department of Housing and Community Development that needs to be distributed or forfeited.
Eligible businesses must be in business before March 1st of 2020, locally or regionally owned, with fewer that twenty-one employees, and have suffered negative impacts directly as a result of the pandemic and also, have not previously received federal assistance via the CARES Act for the same expenses. Additional requirements include the necessity for the business to be a provider of local or regional services, must also be up to date on all fees, permits and taxes as of March 1, 2020 and have a current valid business license.
Recipients will be able to use these funds for upgrades of business and office space, as well as technology upgrades to sustain virus fighting requirements, sanitation materials, job training, classes and or other activities that assist their employees in safely and knowledgeably dealing with virus safety needs, along with rent or mortgage payments.
