September Pennington Gap Town Council Meeting

The Pennington Gap Town Council met for their regular monthly meeting on Monday. The council agreed to the use of Leeman Field on October 1st for the annual Kids in the Creek event held by the Daniel Boone Soil and Water Conservation District. The council, along with VDOT also approved the Super Sam Warrior 5K Run on September 26 being held for a local boy with Chiari malformation. No further progress was reported on the Greenway or ATV Trail and technical issues have halted work on the walking trail for at least the next 30 days. The town has ordered new Christmas decorations and Fall Banners after sample decorations were hung to be voted upon in August. The council also made a motion to install new safety railing at Leeman Field.
Councilman Keith Harless resigned his position after accepting the position as Assistant Town Manager. In his absence, councilman Gary McElyea was appointed as Vice Mayor. The council adjourned until October 19th at 6 p.m.
