Recently the Lee County Board of Supervisors announced the recycling program in Lee County has officially been ended because of poor market conditions at this time. Currently there is no market for plastic, and the price for cardboard and used paper has dropped more than 80% over the last few years. With regret over the program ending, they cite that it was unavoidable as the losses of operating the program had become too steep. In the event that the market for recycling should change beneficially in the future, the recommencement of the program will be reconsidered. In the interim, all formerly recycled items should be placed into the dumpsters at your nearest Solid Waste Convenience Center.
