Pennington Gap PD arrest man on drug charges in Ruby’s parking lot

Chief Kilbourne says that on April 5th, 2016 at 3:00 p.m., Corporal Dustin Lane found a male subject, Richard Wayne Sanders, passed out in the Ruby's parking lot on Oakwood Ave. in the Town of Pennington Gap, VA. Corporal Lane arrested the male subject for Intoxication in Public and had Officer Jonathan Gwinn assist him in searching the subject. Upon searching the male, the officers found various amounts and quantities of prescription medications, along with paraphernalia used in the consumption of these drugs. These items were confiscated and sealed as evidence where it will be taken to the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Forensic Science Lab in Roanoke, VA for analysis.

Richard Wayne Sanders was charged with Intoxicated in Public, 4 counts of Possession of Schedule 6 Controlled Substance, 1 Count of Possession of Schedule 4 Controlled Substance, 1 Count of Possession of Schedule 3 Controlled Substance, and 1 Count of Possession of Controlled Drug Paraphernaila.

Chief Kilbourne says that his officers are committed to making this a safer place to live and work by working with the community to rid the streets of prescription and illegal drugs. The Pennington Gap Police Department is working under a new mission statement which is "Working with you to make our community a safer place" which is a community partnership with the Police Department, local businesses, and citizens.
