Norton Police Detain Murder Suspect in Traffic Stop

Norton City Dispatch received a call last Thursday just before 10 p.m. to be on the lookout for a reckless driver who was harassing another motorist. The call reported that the driver had made multiple attempts to stop a woman in her vehicle, including running her out of the roadway and stopping in front of her. Officers responded to US 23 and located a maroon 2010 Infinity G37 with Florida registration that was confirmed as the suspect vehicle. Officers pulled the vehicle over on Route 58 going East and ordered the driver from the vehicle. A search of the car revealed multiple firearms.
A DMV check on the vehicle confirmed that it belonged to James Terry Colley, Jr. of St. Augustine, Florida who is wanted as a suspect in a double murder case out of St. Johns County Florida. Colley was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with driving under the influence, refusal of a chemical test, and a fugitive warrant was obtained on the murder charges out of Florida. Colley is being held in the Duffield Regional Jail without bond.
