Norton City Schools Pushing For Resource Officer

Norton City Schools are pushing for a school resource officer after five years without one. Officials told WCYB that the school system has applied for an SRO Grant for the past two years but were denied both times. Chief Lane of the Norton City Police says he makes sure police are patrolling school grounds on a daily basis, but both School Officials and Law Enforcement are determined to get a dedicated officer in the schools full time to protect students. They are currently fighting against funding issues, but Superintendent Keith Perrigan says they will not stop until they have an officer in both schools.
