Move Mountains Medical Mission 2020 Cancelled

According to their latest Press Release the Move Mountains Medical Mission for this year has been cancelled because concern for large public gatherings during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Officials from the Health wagon went on to say that this annual event, known by most locally as the Wise Remote Area Medical and VDAF Mission of Mercy Event, had been scheduled for July 10-12, 2020 at the Wise County Convocation Center and the Wise County Fairgrounds.
“Public safety is of the utmost importance and after planning the event for twenty years, it was a painstaking decision, but everyone’s health and safety were paramount. We will be planning for a 2021 event knowing how deeply meaningful the event is to the region for saving lives and knowing that thousands had come to depend on the event for free eye, dental and medical services,” said Health Wagon President and Chief Executive Officer Teresa Tyson.
For those who signed up to volunteer at this year’s event via www.volunteers.thehealthwagon.org no further action is necessary. The Health Wagon officials will save your information and then contact you to sign up for next year’s event for which no date has yet been decided.
The Health Wagon is planning a social outreach event which will include giveaways and donations to the community that will take place later in the calendar year or when it is deemed safe to be in crowds again. Anyone with any questions may contact the Health Wagon at 276-328-8850 or contact Nicole France at nfrance@thehealthwagon.org. They also would like to remind those who volunteered that if you have a hotel or lodging reservation to please cancel it immediately.
