Mountain Empire Community College Receives Grant to Benefit Veterans

Mountain Empire Community College in Big Stone Gap, was one of three community colleges in Southwest Virginia to receive funds, with MECC receiving a fifteen thousand dollar donation from the Dominion Energy Foundation to help with assisting it's programs for veterans.
The Director of Power Generation, Mark Kuhn at Dominion's St. Paul location stated that "veterans have faithfully served our nation, and this is yet another way Dominion Energy can show it's thanks and appreciation. These men and women have returned from military service and are now intergrating into civilian life. We're proud to be a part of helping veterans in Southwest Virginia achieve their academic and career goals."
Mountain Empire Community College President Kristen Westover stated the college is "extremely grateful to Dominion Energy for this generous gift that will supoort veterans in expanding their education and training needs." MECC will use the grant money to help with scholarships and other services for veterans.
Both the federal government and nonprofit organizations offer money for college to veterans, future military personnel, active duty personnel, or those related to veterans or active duty personnel. The VA offers education benefits for veterans and for their widows and dependents on it's GI Bill site.  You can find more information on their website by clicking this link
