Mickey Nelms Nabbed in Scott County

A Scott County Deputy observed a black and orange Honda Civic with a cracked windshield and no front tag. The Scott County deputy activated his blue lights while in the right hand lane and the driver, later identified as Mickey Nelms, took off in the left lane.
During the course of the pursuit the vehicle was weaving in and out of lanes and reached high rates of speed. The driver bailed out on Angler's Way and continued on foot, and the deputy lost sight of him.
The K9 unit arrived and a search of the river banks started. During this time Dispatch alerted the deputies of a phone call they had received regarding the subject coming out of the river on the other side soaking wet.
The K9 unit and other deputies were able to locate and arrest the subject. Nelms advised the deputy he ran because he has warrants out of Lee county.
Nelms was charged with Felony Elude, and Driving on Revoked License DUI related.
