A Kingsport man is facing attempted second-degree murder charges in Scott County after a hammer attack on three people.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a home in the Fort Blackmore area at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday after a report that three people had been attacked by an individual with a hammer. Authorities say Brittany Barnette, 23; Brandy Castle, 29; and Shawn Hunt, 30, were transported to Holston Valley Medical Center for injuries sustained during the incident.

Kenneth Gregory Riddle, 29, of Kingsport, was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted second-degree murder in relation to the incident.

Riddle is being held without bond in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Duffield pending a court hearing Thursday morning in Scott County General District Court.
