Lottery winner

A woman from Big Stone Gap, won $1 million in the Virginia Lottery.

Bessie Hylton stopped into the Black Diamond  convenience store on Gilley Avenue East to buy a drink and bought a Color of Money scratch-off ticket from the Virginia Lottery.

She had the choice of taking the full $1 million prize over 30 years or a one-time cash option of $537,393 before taxes. She chose the cash option.

The store also came out a winner. It got a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Hylton said she intends to invest her winnings.
