Local Students Spending Saturdays at Stem Gym in Kingsport, TN

For the past couple of months, students from Lee County Public Schools have been spending their Saturdays at the Stem Gym in Kingsport, Tn building robots.
In addition to building robots, they are learning python coding, laser printing, and preparing for their final challenge scheduled for December 14th at the Stem Gym.
They will use the two robots that they have built and one drone in order to participate in the 2019 RDL (or Robot Drone Leaq ue) Challenge entitled "Towers of Titans." The Appalachian Highlands MATE ROV Competition is scheduled for May 9th, 2020 at the Kingsport Aquatic Center.
Underwater Robotics Workshop for Educators to learn the fundamentals of ROV building and MATE also known as Marine Advanced Technology Education. This workshop serves as a prep for potential MATE teams competing in The Appalachian Highlands MATE Regional Competition, scheduled for May 9, 2020. MATE is an exciting STEM journey that utilizes underwater robots – also known as remotely operated vehicles or ROVs – teaching STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and preparing students for promising careers.
