Lee County Sergeant Deputy Gates Arrests Sonya Denise Taylor and Timothy Todd Bishop on Multiple Charges

A Lee County man and woman were arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute according to a recent Lee County Sheriff’s Office Press Release.
Sheriff Gary Parsons reported that Sergeant Deputy Roger Gates was attempting to serve a paper in the Jasper section of Lee County, when he saw a male and female acting suspicious near a white Chevy Blazer outside the residence that he was approaching.
Sheriff Parsons said that Deputy Gates approached the pair, 27 year old Sonya Denise Taylor of Duffield and 43 year old Timothy Todd Bishop also of Duffield. As he approached, Bishop fled on foot. Sergeant Gates placed Bishop in custody and returned to the white Blazer where Taylor was still standing.
According to Sheriff Parsons, when Gates returned he saw a baggie lying on the ground which looked to contain meth. He also noticed in plain view inside the vehicle more baggies and scales. When Taylor was asked to empty her pockets she had additional meth.
Gates placed both under arrest for Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine. Bishop was arrested additionally on an outstanding Capias. The total amount of suspected methamphetamine taken was 7 grams.
Sheriff Gary Parsons commended Sergeant Deputy Gates for his work and being observant which resulted in more drugs being taken out of circulation in our community.
