Lee County Public Service Authority Meeting

The Virginia Department of Health’s annual fee of $11-12,000 was billed to the Lee County Public Service Authority recently and the Board has since voted to align with other municipalities and pass the fee on to their customers. PSA customers will find a one time yearly fee of an extra $3 on their bill soon.
The Board voted unanimously to approve passing the cost of the VDH bill entitled a Waterworks Operation Fee that the PSA pays annually on to their customers. The Board requested that the Fee be described on the customer’s bills as a one time fee. Additionally the Authority approved the 2018-2019 annual budget but claimed it can be amended at any time if necessary.
PSA Director Tracy Puckett stated that a Memorandum of Understanding, an MOU is in effect with the former St Charles Water Authority and the PSA, adding that negotiations with the Town of Pennington Gap and the PSA are ongoing.
Also in the category of New Business, the Board discussed and reviewed the Cost Analysis of the Interconnect between PSA systems in Left Hand Poor Valley. Puckett provided good news in reference to the Giles Hollow Project concerning an alternate site for a water tank after the original site agreement fell thru. Also covered were the completion of Permits in the Frog Level Phase II, The Fields, Isopod Road Project, Maple Hill Project, Hickory Flats Sewer Collection System, Cross Creek Dryden Sewer Project. The Board then adjourned until their August 28th meeting.
