Returning for the third year this Friday April 20th at the Cedar Hill Country Club is the Lee County Drug Court Golf Tournament. This tournament will be a Captain’s Choice Scramble consisting of four person teams. Registration costs are $60 per person or $240 per team, with lunch provided and prizes awarded. Sponsorships of holes are available at a cost of $100 per hole with all monies raised to benefit the Lee County Drug Court Program which offers an alternative to incarceration for drug addicts that have committed nonviolent crimes because of their addiction.
The Drug Court Program saves money while providing a strict treatment program that requires a maximum degree of individual accountability as an alternative sentencing for drug addicted defendants. Participants have to put in a lot of hard work during their regimen of substance abuse treatment, intensive supervision and ancillary services that is primarily designed to break the revolving door cycle of dependency.
The Lee County Drug Court Program requires all participants to find employment and successfully pass regular drug screenings. Participants are also required to repay their fines and associated court costs along with performing community service. Ultimately the Program is designed to protect community safety, improve public health, hold offenders accountable and see drug free babies delivered.
Interested individuals, groups or businesses that would like to register for the event or sponsor a hole should contact the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office at 276-346-1921.
