Virginia Delegate Terry Kilgore expressed his support to a series of public safety initiatives during a Policy Work Group, yesterday. The Republican from Gate City serves on the House Courts of Justice and Criminal Law subcommittee. One of the bills would increase penalties for habitual drug traffickers. Another would impose a mandatory life sentence on anyone convicted of raping a child under the age of 12. Other measures would increase the jail time for DUI maiming and DUI manslaughter and assault and battery via strangulation, which is an attempt to curb the escalation of domestic violence cases.
