The Lee County Hospital Authority has extended a letter of intent with Americore to reopen the hospital in Pennington Gap. Board memebers met last week to review discussions with Americore and voted to amend the letter of intent to extend the time to February. Americore has accepted this schedule and recently toured the facility to plan their operation.
LCHA Vice President Ronnie Montgomery says the project is taking too long, but the board wants things to work properly in the long run. The board will meet again on January 5 at 6 p.m. at the Pennington Gap Community Center.
