Layoffs at Komatsu Mining Corporation in Duffield, Virginia

February has started out rough for the approximately forty employees that were notified of their upcoming layoff at the Komatsu Mining Corporation in Duffield, Virginia. No information was given as to how many are employed by Komatsu’s Duffield location.
According to information released from Komatsu the reason behind the layoffs is because of challenging conditions in the coal market industry. Representatives went on to add that laid off employees were notified last week and that company representatives were working with them to ensure they receive help during the process.
Underground Mining President, Peter Salditt stated, “Letting valued employees go is never an easy decision to make. We are doing everything we can to help our employees manage this difficult news.”
Komatsu Mining of Komatsu Limited a multi-billion dollar company, through their Joy Global Incorporated manufactures and services heavy equipment used in the extractions and haulage of coal and minerals in both surface and underground mining.
