The Joy Global plant in Duffield reopened Tuesday after health concerns forced a major cleaning. The company said an employee got sick last week and there was concern that person may have had Legionnaires’ Disease. While waiting for test results, the company arranged for a full microbial investigation of its facility.
The company said that although the employee did not test positive for the disease, a few irregularities were identified during the facility investigation. Joy Global said those irregularities posed a low risk but Monday, it closed the facility while the area was cleaned, disinfected and re-tested.
