Jonesville has a new mayor. Unofficial results from the Lee County Electoral Board show that Marilyn Humfleet has unseated Mayor Greg C. Smith by a wide margin. 156 votes were cast for Marilyn Humfleet, versus 66 votes for Smith.
In the Race for Town Council seats, of eight candidates, the top vote getter was Randy B. Jones, with 154 votes. D. Wayne Maness garnered 150 votes. R. Darrell Hines and Richard L. Garrett each earned a seat on the council, with 143 votes. Jeffrey A. Woodard had 126 votes. James S. Ewing the Second had 124 votes. And, for the seventh spot, A.R. Blevins received a total of 120 votes.
