Jonesville Man Convicted For Deadly Kingsport Crash

A Sullivan County jury convicted a Jonesville man of reckless homicide last week more than two years after a fatal crash in Kingsport, TN. Sturgill had a child in his Jeep Cherokee when he ran a red light at the intersection of Fort Henry Drive and Thornton Drive in Kinsport in September of 2013. His SUV hit a car driven by Melissa Lambert, causing her vehicle to hit two others.

Lambert later died. Sturgill and the child were both hurt.

Sturgill was convicted of reckless homicide, two counts of reckless aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment. He was also convicted of speeding and running a red light.

He remains in jail without bond. A bond hearing will be scheduled before sentencing.
