Jimmy Shupe of Pennington Gap Arrested

The arrest of a Lee County man on federal charges has led authorities to the seizure of illegal drugs and further state level charges. Lee County Sheriff Gary Parsons reports that Deputy Chad Rouse had information that 36 year old Jimmy Shupe who was wanted on a Federal Capias charge was at a residence in the Dryden section of Lee County. According to Parsons, Shupe was renting a room at the residence. Once inside, Deputy Rouse found Shupe sitting on the bathroom floor, with a loaded syringe close by.
Parsons said that a search of Shupe revealed Methamphetamine in his pocket along with $811 in cash. A further search of his room revealed more Methamphetamine, narcotic pills, scales, baggies and other paraphernalia associated with the distribution of illegal drugs. A total of 21 grams of Methamphetamine was seized.
Shupe of Pennington Gap, Virginia was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Additional charges will be pursued at a later date when the results of pending lab analysis are returned. Currently Shupe is being held at the Duffield Regional Jail without bond and with a hold from federal authorities.
Sheriff Parsons commended the work of Deputy Chad Rouse who was assisted at the scene by Lieutenant Deputy AJ McQueen and Deputy Josh Parks.
