Hit and Run Suspect Sought In Lee County Vehicular Fatality

The Virginia State Police are currently seeking help from the public with locating a vehicle involved in the fatal hit and run that occurred in Lee County, Virginia on August 7th at 9:30 that evening in the Woodway community on Route 638/Hickory Flatts Road North of Route 58.
A 1989 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling along Route 638 when it was struck by another vehicle. The impact of the crash caused the motorcycle to run off the left side of the road and strike a utility pole. The other vehicle fled the scene.
The operator of the motorcycle, Gary L. Tabor Jr., 32, of Pennington Gap, Va., was flown to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn. for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He succumbed to his injuries the next day. Tabor was wearing a helmet at the time.
The hit-and-run vehicle is believed to be blue in color and may have damage to either the driver's front side or passenger's front side. There may also be damage to the hood of the vehicle.
