The owners of a grocery store in Lee County was arrested on multiple drug-related charges.
After investigating the grocery store for about a year, the Lee County Sheriff's Office recently did a search warrant on Kelly's Grocery, 13991 St. Route 606 in Keokee, Virginia.
During the search of the grocery store, officers found narcotics, multiple weapons including a stolen gun, a large number of tools and a "significant" amount of cash, according to a press release.
The owners William Boone Kelly, 44, and Laura Kelly, 49, were both charged with owning or maintaining a house of nuisance involving drugs, possession of schedule two narcotics with intent to sell and possession of a firearm while distributing illegal narcotics.
Both are being held in Duffied Regional Jail without bond.
Lee County Commonwealth Attorney Stacy Muncy went along with officers while they served the search warrant and made the decision to seize the grocery store. The reason was because the building was being used for drug distribution and as a criminal enterprise. It has been sealed off and forfeiture proceedings are coming.
