Green Way Trail Clean Up Event This Saturday to Celebrate National Earth Day

The Town of Pennington Gap along with local Scout troops are inviting everyone the weekend of National Earth Day to pitch in and help clean up the Greenway Trail on Saturday, April 21st 2018. They’d like to encourage individuals and groups to show up tomorrow morning and join them with the clean up project that runs from Leeman Field to the Riverbend Shopping Center. Show up early because the first 100 volunteers will be given a free participation t-shirt.

Boy Scout Troop 333 , and Girl Scout Troop 404 will be doing their part in the endeavor. The Girl Scouts will contribute flower boxes as part of the beautification process, while the Boy Scouts agreed to do monthly maintenance of the Greenway Trail as their contribution.

The cleanup of the Greenway Trail would benefit greatly with additional support of all ages from the community. Volunteers could assist in picking up trash, handing out drinks and refreshments, hauling trash away or many other ways of contributing to the overall process.

Interested individuals may contact the Town Hall at 276-546-1177 to find out more on how to help including what supplies or gear is beneficial.
Some of the necessities would include utility type vehicles, trash bags, bottles of water, wading boots, pick up sticks, and people with tools and skills related to construction. Those wanting to may also contact Reuille at 276-393-0754 or Eldridge at 276-971-3533.
